(WHSV) - Barely two years after beginning his throwing career, Turner Ashby’s Jackson Jeffrey capped his high school career in historic fashion.

The William & Mary commit won state titles in the shot put and discus, a year after also sweeping both events.

Jeffrey’s throw of 59 feet, 6.25 inches in the shot put set a new VHSL Class 3 state meet record, breaking the previous mark of 59-5 set by Fort Defiance’s Zach Boyers in 2018.

He also set a state meet record in the discus with a throw of 167-11, surpassing the previous mark of 167-0 set by Staunton River’s Jordan Patti in 2016.

Jeffrey recently sat down with WHSV to discuss his memorable weekend, what led him to the sport, and his future goals. You can watch the full interview above.
