STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- Augusta Garden Club of Staunton was awarded a $10,000 grant by the Garden Club of America in an effort to restore dogwood trees.

The club has been working with Staunton City Horticulturist Matt Sensabaugh for four years to plant and restore dogwoods throughout the city.

So far, he has helped plant 67 trees in Gypsy Hill Park.

Karen Santos with the Augusta Garden Club of Staunton said they want to also educate those in the community.

"So, we will have right here at Gypsy Hill Park and also Montgomery Hill Park, signage about these dogwoods about what they are and what they're blooms are like and when they will blossom and have that information available to the public, said Santos.
