Enjoying the vineyards while helping pets at the same time
On Sunday, Anicira held their largest fundraiser of the year, Walk for the Animals 2019. The annual event gives pet lovers the chance to enjoy Bluestone Vineyard and help animals in need.
Participants enjoyed food trucks, wine tasting, a costume contest, yard games, and an obstacle course for dogs. The main event was the one-mile stroll through the vineyard that was lead by pets who were helped through Anicira.
All the money that was raised through the event will stay locally to help the organization continue its mission.
"It supports our adoption programs, it supports our spay and neuter efforts that we do throughout the year," Dan Chavez, Operation Coordinator with Anicira, said. "We give thousands and thousands of dollars to help people be able to afford veterinary care from spay neuter to medical procedures."
The fundraiser also helps the organization adopt animals from shelters, get them medical treatment and help them find their forever homes.
Chavez said before the event started the organization already surpassed last year's fundraising goal, and are on track to raise more than $15,000.
