HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — The Super Bowl will be played on Sunday, February 4th.

Whether you're a football fan or not, there is one event in Harrisonburg that might interest you.

Anicira is holding a local puppy bowl!

The event will have food, contests, games, and of course, puppies!

The festivities kick off at 1:00 p.m., and end at 5:00 p.m.

"The Puppy Bowl nationally is a partnership between Animal Planet and the ASPCA that they hold before the Super Bowl, and it's always just adorableness and cuteness," said Kelsey Cler, the Community Outreach Coordinator for Anicira. "We happen to have a lot of puppies in our care and thought, well, let's do a local one!"

There will be at least 14 puppies at Anicira's veterinary center on Medical Avenue available for cuddling and playing.

"There will be a little bit of litter against litter, although one litter is nine puppies and the other litter is five. And we have some free agents!" said Cler.

Some of the puppies are up for adoption, and you could take one home on Sunday!

Post-puppy play, if you want to watch the Super Bowl around Harrisonburg, Jimmy Madison's and the Doubletree on East Market Street will have specials.

If you're feeling hungry, Brothers Craft Brewing is partnering with The Artful Dodger and Lola Mo's for their first ever chili bowl starting at noon.

The big game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. eastern time.
