Dominion Power is close to finalizing the route for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline that will run underground through Augusta County. Once completed, Dominion says that the land above ground can be used as it was before.

Half of the pipeline has already been manufactured, and Dominion recently signed a contract with Spring Ridge Contractors to begin construction if approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

After a lot of research for this route and changing it more than 300 times, Dominion believes this is the best route for the least impact on landowners and the environment.

Some in the community see no problem with the pipeline, but there are others who think nothing good can come from it.

"There is no good for this pipeline, this pipeline is not needed," Nancy Sorrells, co-chair for the Augusta County Alliance, said.

If the route is approved, the goal is to start the pipeline in the fall of 2017 and finish by late 2019.
