STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- -----UPDATE 10/27/15 9:15 p.m.-------
The Virginia State Police say the body of Elizabeth White, 57, was found in the woods behind the Valley View Senior Apartments Tuesday afternoon.
White's body was discovered after a concerned neighbor called the police about her disappearance. Police don't suspect foul play in her death.
The 55-and-over apartment complex sits off Frontier Drive just above the Staunton Wal-Mart. On the WHSV-TV 3 Facebook page Amber Elizabeth said, "This was my mother. My beautiful, wonderful mother who'd survived lung cancer and everything the world had ever thrown at her while she was growing up."
People who live in the complex say they saw a woman walk down this path to go to the Wal-Mart Monday afternoon, but she never made it back. Neighbors say White frequently walked to Wal-Mart. She'd been living in the complex for less than a year. They say she stuck to herself, but always greeted everyone with a smile.
Amber Elizabeth went on to say, "She was the sort of person who could be in a room 10 minutes and walk out with everyone loving her."
