HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — Bowl for Kids' Sake managed to raise more than $97,000 as of Saturday evening for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County. The dollar amount was just short of a $112k goal set for this year's event.
Teams hit the bowling alleys at Valley Lanes earlier in the day to raise money for the organization which matches adult mentors (called "Bigs") with children ("Littles") between the ages of 6 and 18.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County reported it served nearly 500 kids in 2018. More than 70 percent of children who participated had improved grades and a majority reported higher self-confidence, according to the organization.
