Chief says junk fire burning at Harrisonburg recycling facility
The Harrisonburg Fire Chief said a junk fire ignited at a city recycling facility Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Larry Shifflett explained to WHSV the fire was located at Recycle Management Inc. along South Main St. WHSV's Katie Caler went to the scene and said she couldn't tell what exactly was burning, but she said it smelled "awful."
The original call came in about a car on fire around 1:30 on Tuesday afternoon. Workers were able to drag the car into an area where the could access it to put out the fire. No significant damage was reported.
WHSV covered another fire at the same location in July of 2015 when a pile of cars caught fire.
