DAYTON, Va. (WHSV) -- Some good neighbors are hoping art will help improve the quality of life in their community. Imagine Dayton is only about six months old. Its first project is to bring more art to the town.

A mural on the post office was painted in 2011, but a painting of Silver Lake was just finished last month.

"The main reaction that I got when I was working on the mural," said Artist Mia LaBerge who painted the 2015 mural, "(was) people would just drive by and they would just say, 'oh, that's beautiful.'" "It's just a way that we can all share something," LaBerge said.

Members of the group hope the organization will have a wide range of effects on the town.

"All of this improves the quality of life and hopefully is great for the community and for bringing in outsiders to excite the commercial areas of the downtown," said Imagine Dayton's Bob Bersson.

Bersson said the group is now working on developing a sculpture park and a greenway for the town as well.
