HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — Twenty seniors from high schools in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County are getting a head start on the job search ahead of graduation over the next two weeks.

Massanutten Technical Center is helping to host a 'manufacturing boot camp' with LSC Communications. In addition to learning about the basics of a career in the field, the students are also learning about building a resume and are guaranteed an interview with the company, formerly known as RR Donnelley.

More than 40 seniors applied for the opportunity.

"I did it just to learn about what happens in a factory," said Billie Jo McCartney, a senior at Spotswood High. "I have a lot of close friends and family that do it, so I just thought it might be worth the shot to try."

"I pretty much want to advance my skills and learn about engineering [and] learn about the proper techniques.," said Christian Hottinger, a senior of East Rockingham High.

The students are also earning $13.80/hr. for attending, according to a flyer for the boot camp.

The school said this was the first program of this type offered to students still in high school.
