AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) — UPDATE (April 12):
Virginia State Police say two people were seriously injured in a crash that shut down Route 42 near Craigsville on Thursday morning.
According to police, the crash involved one vehicle that hit a tree off the side of the road. Both the driver and passenger were air-lifted to UVA Medical Center with serious injuries.
As of now, no charges have been filed.
UPDATE (12:45 p.m.):
The scene of a crash along Route 42 in Augusta County, just north of Craigsville, has been cleared and traffic is moving through the area again.
No information on the crash has been released by police, but witnesses say a single vehicle crashed between Jackson Trail and Sunset Hill Lane in Shoakers Bottom.

Drivers who rely on Route 42 through Augusta County should be prepared to find alternate routes on Thursday morning.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), a crash has closed all northbound and southbound lanes of Route 42 about three miles northeast of Craigsville.
The crash is reported near the intersection of Route 42 and Augusta Springs Rd., not far from Joyful Sound Lane.
No further information on the crash is available at this point.
