Cryotherapy treatment center opens in Harrisonburg
A new business opened last week in Harrisonburg on Neff Avenue. Valley Cryo is the first-ever cryotherapy center to come to Harrisonburg.
The "Titan Cryotherapy" chamber in Valley Cryo came all the way from Poland.
During cryotherapy, your body is exposed to temperatures below negative 200 degrees for about three minutes.
"I've been a nurse for over 20 years, and so I'm going in a little bit of a different direction, but my passion is to help people feel better," said Jenny Siepka.
Siepka owns Valley Cryo. She discovered cryotherapy a year ago and was instantly hooked.
She says it can help people of all ages.
"For people who are 13 years old, to a client of mine who is 70," said Siepka. "Whether it's arthritis, or fibromyalga, or people that are just recovering from sports injuries."
In the chamber, your body is in emergency mode.
"During that time, your blood is rushing to your internal core, you have a lot of oxygen, enzymes and nutrients," said Siepka. "When you exit the chamber, the blood will rush out to your extremities and provide all these healing properties."
Cryotherapy can help with stress, weight loss, skin health, and inflammation.
"I know that it works and I'm excited to help people heal, and I'm excited to help people feel good," said Siepka.
