A K9 rescue team discovered the remains of a missing Charlotte County woman Saturday morning, increasing the death toll from Tropical Storm Michael to six in Virginia, according to state police.

62-year-old Ruby Allen became stranded on a bridge while traveling and was swept away by flood waters. Her son, 36-year-old Ronnie Allen, Jr, was also killed. His 17-year-old son, also in the vehicle, was rescued by Charlotte County sheriff's deputies.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) is keeping track of the deaths related to the storm in the commonwealth.

Overall, well over a dozen deaths have been attributed to Hurricane Michael, which slammed Florida's panhandle as a catastrophic Category 4 storm earlier this week.

The storm weakened considerably by the time it reached North Carolina and Virginia, but still dumped heavy rain in areas still recovering from Hurricane Florence last month.
