Delegate Steve Landes, of Weyers Cave, got the chance to ride along with state police Wednesday afternoon, and get a different view of those who serve and protect us.
This was the first of many rides that Delegate Landes will be participating in.
Wednesday, he was riding along with Virginia State Police Trooper J.D. Cash. His first ride-along call ended up being
in Augusta County.
Landes said having this opportunity lets him see how things are done.
"The first thing out was a train accident. That's something I've never experienced, so you just never know what you're going to run into," Landes said. "But I think that also emphasizes the potential dangers that they can get themselves into sometimes, because they just never know what's going to happen."
Landes will also be meeting with law enforcement throughout the summer, including county sheriffs and the Albermarle County Police Department.
