Fatal police-involved shooting in Elkins
Police serving a search warrant encountered a man who pointed a shotgun at them. Police subsequently shot him fatally. That's according to a statement from West Virginia State Police Lt. Michael Baylous.
The man was later identified as William Keith Waldron, age 26. "Waldron was transported by EMS to Davis Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead as a result of his wounds," said Lt. Baylous.
There were no other reported injuries of civilians or police.
The warrant operation happened around 11:45 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15 at a residence on Ward Avenue in Elkins, WVa.
The Elkins Police Dept, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, and the West Virginia State Police participated in the operation. Apparently two WVa. troopers fired their guns at Waldron.
