Businessman Chris Runion won the 25th District GOP firehouse primary on Saturday, according to the party's district chair Jennifer M Brown.

Runion faced off against Richard Fox and Augusta County supervisor Marshall Pattie.

Final results: — Chris Runion: 1,299 (42%) — Marshall Pattie: 1,041 (34%) — Richard Fox: 744 (24%)

The district includes portions of Rockingham, Augusta and Albemarle counties.

Del. Steve Landes, also a Republican, previously announced he will vacate the seat he has held for more than 20 years to run for Augusta County Clerk of Court.

Voters waited in lines on Saturday at some locations to cast a ballot.

"Having good civic leaders and trying to support them is what today is all about," said Thomas Rea, who voted.

Activist Jennifer Kitchen will represent the Democratic ticket in November.
