Many find luck during Friendly City Fortune's second year

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- The Shenandoah Valley's largest raffle took place today at the Turner Pavilion in downtown Harrisonburg. This was the second year that the The Friendly City Fortune gave a lot of prizes.

The Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance gave away $250,000 worth of prizes including 2018 motorcycle, four cars, camping equipment, utility vehicles, ATVs and cash.

Carol Vann, the first winner of the Friendly City Raffle giveaways, said she was feeling lucky.

"I came out with my grandson and my son because I had gotten a ticket for here for the first time. I had a feeling I might get something, but not the very first one," she says.

Vann ended up winning a 2018 motorcycle and she said she knows why she was lucky.

"I know why you won...because we're WHSV Daybreakers," she told us.

All proceeds will go to the vitality of Downtown Harrisonburg through beautification projects, community building and business assistance.
