Charges are pending against a Virginia teen after deputies in Hardy County caught a driver with a large number of baggies and marijuana.

According to the Hardy County Sheriff's Office, a deputy spotted a black Audi with Virginia license plates speeding through Wardensville on Monday, March 25.

When the deputy's cruiser became visible to the driver, the car began rapidly passing other vehicles, which led the deputy to pull the Audi over.

At the scene, Senior Deputy Whetzel and Chief Deputy Warren carried out a search of the car, finding drug distribution paraphernalia, a scale, many individual baggies, and a quantity of marijuana valued at about $1,500.

The office believes the driver, who will not be identified because he's a juvenile, had already sold most of his supply due to the size and number of empty bags in the car.

According to Dave Maher, spokesman for the office, deputies also seized specialized bags from the car that were designed to hide the scent of controlled substances from law enforcement detection.

Charges will be filed in juvenile court.
