Harrisonburg paralegal named 'Unsung Legal Hero'

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — Each year, Virginia Lawyers Weekly releases a list of the year's "Unsung Legal Heroes." The most recent list in 2018 honors a paralegal in the Shenandoah Valley.

Morgan has been practicing law since the 1980's.

Sherri Morgan has worked in the legal field since the 1980's. She started working in Harrisonburg at Wharton, Aldhizer and Weaver in 2005. She works in Civil Litigation, usually with folks who suffer from personal injuries or medical malpractice. Her supervisor, Frank Hilton, who is a senior partner at Wharton Aldhizer and Weaver, and another co-worker nominated her and felt certain she would make the list.

"We were waiting with high anticipation of her acknowledgement of what she deserves," said Hilton. "She really has been an integral part of this practice since the day she started. We represent people who really don't have the ability to help themselves and Sherri helps them."

Morgan said the email came to her junk mail, and she was not sure if it was real at first. She checked with her co-workers to find out it was.

"I felt very honored. Very honored," said Morgan.

"To say she loves to work may be over speaking it a bit, but she works nights and weekends, if something needs to be done, she dials in from home and does it," said Hilton.

"It's been exciting. It's been an exciting time, you know the last month from the time I found out and then I had to send in a questionnaire, but it's been exciting," said Morgan.

Humbly, Morgan said she is looking forward to continuing her work and helping people in the Valley.
