HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — Harrisonburg City Parks and Recreation Department is hoping to make prom season a little more affordable this year.
The group is collecting formal dresses at the Lucy F. Simms center until prom.
On April 6th from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., high school girls in the area can come look through formal dresses, jewelry, shoes and receive coupons to related businesses.
Organizers of the drive said they understand how expensive prom night can get and want to help out.
"Prom sometimes can be costly, so it's good to give back to the young girls," said Cory Jeffries with Harrisonburg's Parks and Recreation. "That way it can offset the cost and they can have fun and put the money towards something else and they wont have to stress to go to prom."
