HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — At approximately 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning, officers with the Harrisonburg Police Department and James Madison University Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Devon Lane after hearing gun shots in the area.

Police say the suspect fled the area on foot immediately after the shooting. A perimeter was established and a police K9 attempted to track the suspect, but was unable to find anyone.

Police were able to find evidence related to the shooting at the scene.

Officers believe the shooting was related to a disagreement at a party that was going on that night.

They're seeking input from anyone with information about this incident or the identity of suspect, who was described as a black man wearing a black shirt and white washed jeans.

This is believed to be an isolated incident, and police say there is no risk to the public.
