Judge dismisses charges against Bent Mountain tree sitters
A judge has dismissed the misdemeanor charges against two pipeline protesters on Bent Mountain.
The judge said Thursday that he was not convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that Red and Minor Terry had criminal intent when they set up tree stands in the path of the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
The mother and daughter climbed into their tree stands in early April, in an effort to prevent crews from cutting trees on their property.
When they came down in early May, a federal judge found them in contempt and threatened hefty fines.
