WAYNESBORO, Va (WHSV) — The Boys and Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton and Augusta was chosen as this year's recipient of the special offering collected at the 27th annual Martin Luther King Jr. service, sponsored by Mary Baldwin University and the Staunton branch of the NAACP.
The club got a generous donation, and assistant director of the club Ryan Wilson said that the money will mean so much to the kids.
"It was completely a surprise, we had no idea the amount," said Wilson. "The amount was just a random donation, we were shocked at the amount of generosity extended to us by the community."
The donation will go toward programs that foster leadership skills and teach character building to kids in the club.
