Borrowing talking points from President Donald Trump, State Del. Ben Cline helped to open the new GOP campaign headquarters on Neff Avenue on Saturday morning.

"It is an exciting time because we are actually making progress and making a difference up in Washington, D.C., thanks to our great President Donald Trump," said Cline, the Republican candidate for Virginia's 6th congressional district.

Cline was joined by fellow delegates Steve Landes (Va. 25) and Tony Wilt (R-Va. 26), along with State Senator Mark Obenshain.

"Great groundswell of support," Cline said. "We're looking to hit the ground running and convey that message of opportunity, liberty, to the community."

Cline, a Lexington attorney, will run against Jennifer Lewis in November to replace Rep. Bob Goodlatte. The Republican who has held onto his seat for more than two decades announced his retirement last year.

The seat is considered a safe bet for the GOP by political analysts as of late July.
