Several towing companies in Augusta County said they will be taking part in the

on Thursday, September 14 in an effort to help save lives.

More than 300 towing companies nationwide will be taking part in an event that relays a ceremonial casket passed off to a different tow truck at each location, making its way across the nation and back.

Sean Snyder with Kyles Towing Services in Staunton will take the casket to Waynesboro to honor those who lost their life to someone who didn't follow the move over law.

"And there's so much distraction now with cellphones and people texting when they're driving, that they do now pay attention to what's on the side of the road to no matter what color lights you have on," said Snyder "Red, amber or blue, they don't pay attention."

The ride will pass through Staunton at 10 am on Thursday, starting at Kyles Towing at 294 Commerce Rd., and escorted down to Drumhellers Towing and Recovery in Waynesboro.
