STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) — Mary Baldwin University welcomed back all former students this weekend to help celebrate their 175th year.
As part of what the school dubbed 'All-Alumni Weekend,' graduates participated in a Parade of Classes Saturday morning.
Presiding over the event was 95-year-old Eleanor Supple, who got her degree in 1942.
"It's very thrilling to see the progression of the college as it goes forward," said Supple. "And I know that in the future, it's going to be even better. Every new thing is a step in the right direction, I think. Including the men."
Following a name change last year, the university announced they would begin welcoming a new co-ed residential program — an idea that
spurred some backlash.
MBU also officially re-opened their Alumnae House on North Coalter Street Saturday evening, which has undergone an extensive renovation since August.
