The Maryland state legislature moved closer to making Maryland the first state to ban foam food containers and cups on Tuesday.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Maryland senators have already approved their own version of the legislation. Now, two different version of the bill are in the process of being worked out in conference committee.
The House of Delegates voted 97-to 38 on the bill, known as HB-109.
Delegate Brooke Lierman, who sponsored the bill, expressed her excitement for the bill on Facebook, writing, "The House just voted to make Maryland the first state to ban foam food containers by passing Hb109!"
