FISHERSVILLE, Va. (WHSV) — A few dozen people attended a question and answer session on Tuesday evening about the expansion of Medicaid in Virginia hosted by Augusta Health.

Erin Dalrymple, a Benefit Programs Specialist at Shenandoah Valley Social Services, offered insight on the enrollment process.

"The number one question we get — 'am I eligible'," she said. "People also want to know 'what does Medicaid pay for?'"

The Virginia General Assembly voted in May to expand Medicaid, a key provision of the Affordable Care Act. On Jan. 1, 2019, 400,000 will become newly eligible for the program in the state.

A Medicaid Patient Education Fair is scheduled for Monday, December 3, at the Harrisonburg Free Clinic from 12:00 p..m - 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Augusta Health will also offer a second session on Tuesday, December 11 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Augusta Community Care center.
