MillerCoors Adds Cheer to Charity Food Parcels
On Friday, the Elkton Area United Services and MillerCoors Shenandoah Brewery teamed up to help feed those in need this holiday season, but for MillerCoors, giving back is nothing new.
EAUS usually does a food pantry on the third Friday of every month, but this time the grocery carts had a little something extra: hams.
For the 7th year, MillerCoors is giving away these hams during the holidays.
"I don't know what we would do without them," Deavers said. "Because prior to this wonderful gift they've been giving us for the past few years, our food pantry patrons just received a regular food box."
The volunteer work doesn't end there: for every hour its employees volunteer, MillerCoors gives $2 to the United Way.
"It makes you feel like you've added value back to your neighbors," said Rod Little, Human Resources Manager of MillerCoors Shenandoah Brewery. "You know there's folks that, they're touched by the generosity, not only of having the food donations, but the generosity of having our time and caring for them,"
And with 8,500 hours this year, MillerCoors has donated almost $17,000.
"It's not just about the bottom line, and it's not just about getting product out the door,
but it's about supporting the folks in the Valley that support us," said Ernie Finnigan, a Senior Process Leader of Packaging at MillerCoors Shenandoah Brewery.
More than 80 MillerCoors employees participated in a variety of volunteer work this year and today's efforts were definitely appreciated.
"It's just wonderful," Deavers said.
