New housing complex offers affordable option in Rockingham County
A new housing complex just outside of Harrisonburg is offering a more affordable option for low-income people in search of a place to live.
Tenants recently began moving into Robinson Park Apartments, off of Reservoir Street near Sentara RMH.
The complex — managed by Gem Management in North Carolina — offers one, two and three-bedroom options.
Rates for one-bedroom units start at $433/mo.
"We've had much interest from the community so far, and I expect that to continue," said Jennifer Rose, the property manager.
The apartments were constructed
from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta's affordable housing program.
Rose said applicants would need to fall below a certain income threshold.
"We are trying to get as many veterans as possible. They will have priority to other residents if they wish to apply with us," said Rose.
