Harrisonburg police charge 3 people in connection to October shooting

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — UPDATE (Nov. 20):

Three people have been arrested in connection to a shooting that left a Harrisonburg man badly wounded in October.

According to the Harrisonburg Police Department, just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, a 27-year-old man was dropped off by multiple people in a Hyundai Sonata at the Sentara RMH emergency room. The man had a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and one month later, is still hospitalized from his injuries.

Investigators said the people in the car dropped the man off at the ER doors and then fled the area. The victim was later taken to UVA Medical Center for further treatment.

Now, police say they've arrested 20-year-old Jesus Martinez Ramos, 19-year-old Jasaem Masoud, and 19-year-old Rami Saleh Shoresh.

Ramos was arrested on Nov. 18 and is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, as well as displaying a firearm in commission of a felony and robbery.

Masoud was arrested on Nov. 19 and was charged with misdemeanor obstruction of justice, felony destruction of evidence, felony possession with intent to distribute and misdemeanor accessory after the fact.

Shoresh was arrested on Nov. 19 too and charged with misdemeanor obstruction of justice, felony destruction of evidence and misdemeanor accessory after the fact.

Police have released no further details on the shooting itself or its circumstances. They ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact investigators by calling (540) 437-2650.

No mugshots have yet been provided of the suspects.

The Harrisonburg Police Department is searching for information connected to a shooting that occurred somewhere in the city on Oct. 20.

According to police, just before 9 p.m. on Sunday evening, they were alerted by staff at Sentara RMH that someone with a gunshot wound to the abdomen had just been dropped off at the emergency room.

Police believe the shooting had occurred somewhere within the city.

Investigators reviewed surveillance camera footage and determined that the victim, a 27-year-old man, had been dropped off by multiple people driving a white, newer model Hyundai Sonata.

The people in the car dropped the man off at the emergency room doors and then left the area.

The man was treated and later taken to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville for further treatment of injuries police say are not life threatening.

Police are actively investigating the incident to determine what happened and are looking for any leads.
