FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) — Police are investigating a crash in which a pedestrian was killed on Interstate 81 in Frederick County early Friday morning.
According to the Virginia State Police, around 5:40 a.m. on March 15, a 2006 Audi S-4 was heading south on I-81 when a man suddenly ran into the southbound travel lanes.
The Audi was unable to avoid hitting the man, who died at the scene.
The driver of the Audi, a 23-year-old West Virginia man, was uninjured and stopped immediately at the scene.
Investigation by state police revealed that the man killed in the crash had walked from the rest area at mile marker 320.
His remains were taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Manassas for autopsy, examination, and identification.
The crash remains under investigation, but no charges were filed.
