Waynesboro woman warns others of cats being shaved

WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) -- Maia Oden said somebody abducted her cat and then shaved the bottom of it.

Now, she is concerned and wants to find out who did it. She said it happened to her neighbors cats several months ago and now hers just a few weeks ago.

"He's real skittish and he feels really weird around people," said Oden. "And something's happened to him and so we looked and he's been shaved underneath."

She has put up these signs in her neighborhood along Maple Avenue in Waynesboro, warning others about it.

She said whomever is doing this needs to be caught.

"Yeah, someone needs to be caught and people are more aware so they can watch for it and keep it from happening in their neighborhoods," Oden said.

WHSV checked in with Waynesboro Police Department and an official said it is on their radar, but right now, they believe it could have been somebody checking to see if the cats were spayed or neutered. Police have not determined if or what crime is being committed.
