Superintendent Dr. Carol Fenn, School Board Chairwoman Renee Reed and district four board member Charlette McQuilkin talked with Delegate Steve Landes as well as Senator Mark Obenshain on Thursday.

In their meetings, they hope to cover a few topics one of them being local control, making sure that the districts are able to dictate what is best for their kids.

They will be also be trying to garner more funding for the area schools and trying to make sure the Standard of Learning tests are continuing to be refined.

Reed said they are hoping to make these arguments while the iron is still hot.

"Remind them of our interests and our concerns while they're really in that frame of looking and making different legislative choices," said Reed.

She said she sees our representatives from time to time, but that a face-to-face meeting while they are in this mindset can hopefully make a big difference.

The group left for Richmond Wednesday for a school board conference and had their meetings Thursday morning.
