Shenandoah National Park kicks off its Night Sky Festival on July 28, with activities going on until late Sunday night. Turnout for previous Night Sky programs has done so well, the organizers decided to amp things up a bit and make it a weekend festival.
While at the park, you can learn to take pictures of the universe, as well as how to recognize certain stars and constellations. The national park wants to show how amazing the views are.
"Hopefully, they'll learn how important the night skies are in Shenandoah National Park and other national parks --that we preserve the really dark night skies," Sally Hurlbert said. "Our star viewing nights are spectacular."
