Sheriff: 17-year-old stabbed at Virginia rest stop along I-81
A teenage boy was stabbed and wounded at a Virginia rest stop along Interstate 81 in what authorities say could be a road rage incident.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that deputies responded to Radford Travel Center in Christiansburg on Monday afternoon at 1:58 p.m. The 17-year-old was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The teen was not identified. His condition has not been released.
Deputies are looking for a burgundy Honda CRV with Virginia "scenic" license plates, based on a witness statement. The sheriff's office says the car was driven by a woman, and the suspect is a male passenger. The car had a pink car seat in the middle of the back seat.
The driver was a white female with dark hair and a gray hoodie.
The passenger and possible suspect was a heavy set black male with a thin mustache, wearing black track pants with a white stripe on the legs and a gray hoodie.
Anyone with information about the vehicle or the occupants is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 540-382-4343 or Lt. David M. Light at 540-382-6915 ext. 44422.
