AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) — Virginia State Police is investigating what was reported as a barn fire in the 200 block of Cherokee Drive in Augusta County.

Augusta County Fire-Rescue said crews responded to the call around 4:45 Thursday evening.

Augusta County says eight crews responded to the fire. Three crews is standard for a structure fire, they say, but they needed additional tankers to bring in water.

State police are investigating since the county could not determine the cause of the fire and the county does not have a fire marshal.

State police say it's still under investigation, but two buildings on the property were significantly damaged.
