On Monday, Virginia Delegate Steve Landes (R-25th) took a trip on the Shenandoah Valley Railroad.

Beginning at the Augusta County Government Center, the trip was designed for Landes to observe the improvements of the railroad, which stretches from Staunton to Pleasant Valley — covering a majority of the 25th District.

According to Landes, the Department of Rail and Public Transit provided rail improvement enhancement funds to make improvements along the track.

"They had invited me a year or so ago to take a ride." Landes said, "and see what was going on and see the improvements that were made with the rail enhancement funds."

Landes said his main focus is planning for the future of the line and keeping it open and viable for businesses along the route.
