Students shop with local law enforcement for Christmas presents

TIMBERVILLE, Va. (WHSV) -- Christmas is just two weeks away, and Tuesday, local law enforcement in Timberville stopped by Walmart to help those in need pick out toys for their families to open on Christmas day.

It's an annual event called 'Shop with A Hero,' and 25 students from Plains Elementary School were given gift cards and got to pair with their heroes, including police officers, firefighters, and school administrators, to find gifts for their families.

"We probably would be struggling if we didn't have the opportunity of the heroes to come and help," said parent Sarah Hatchett. "And I greatly appreciate them taking the time out of their day to come and help us for the kids to have a Christmas."
