HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — Blue Ridge CASA for Children is hosting its second annual "Top Chef: Harrisonburg" event, featuring chefs from local restaurants.
The friendly competition among some of the best chefs in Harrisonburg will be on Saturday, March 30, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Bluestone Vineyards.
Votes will be tallied by attendees and a judges' panel.
Chef Colin Auckerman from Local Chop House and Grill is new to the competition this year.
"I think it's going to be a good opportunity to showcase kind of what we do here," Auckerman said, "but as well as a little more intricate than I guess what would normally be on the menu here."
Proceeds and sponsorship fees will go directly toward Blue Ridge CASA. According to the event's website, Blue Ridge CASA trains community volunteers to advocate for local children who have been abused or neglected.
The proceeds will provide funding for a full-time advocate manager for the Harrisonburg-Rockingham area who will recruit, train and supervise the volunteer advocates.
WHSV-TV is the media sponsor of the event, and WHSV's Kyle Rogers will serve as master of ceremonies.
