AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) — On Tuesday, toys collected throughout the start of December in the 22nd annual Toy Convoy were distributed to children in Staunton and Waynesboro.
Waynesboro and Staunton both served 450 kids each.
Both areas were serving about 450 kids each.
One woman, named Ella Fisher, said she has received help from Toy Convoy for the last three years for her grandchildren.
"They did for me when I didn't think I'd be able to do it," said Fisher.
Lines wrapped around both buildings used for distribution as folks waited to gather their toys for the kids and take them home to wrap them.
Fisher said it meant a lot that they are able to describe each child's likes and what they are in need of.
"It has made me feel a whole lot better too, knowing that when they wake up, they're going to have something under the tree beside maybe a couple old dollar store things," said Fisher.
Distribution in Harrisonburg was last week.
While the time to donate toys has passed, you can still contribute to Toy Convoy through monetary donations online.
