Crashes leading to delays on both sides of I-81 in Augusta County

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) — Drivers headed either direction on Interstate 81 through Augusta County should be prepared for significant delays on Tuesday evening.

According to VDOT, a tractor trailer accident that occurred around 4:30 p.m. at mile marker 215.7 has closed the north left shoulder and the left lane, leading to delays of about 10 miles as of 6:25 p.m.

This is between the Greenville and Mint Spring/Stuarts Draft exits.

Farther south along the interstate, a vehicle fire at mile marker 208.7 temporarily closed the right lane, and, as of 6:50 p.m., left the right shoulder closed.

Just down the interstate from that scene, a separate crash closed the left shoulder and left lane at mile marker 208.6, leading to delays of about two miles as of 6:45 p.m.

On the southbound side, a crash temporarily closed the left shoulder and left lane at mile marker 224, past the exit for Route 262, leading to delays of up to three miles.
