UPDATE (4:45 p.m.):
The scene of a tractor trailer crash near Weyers Cave has been cleared, and delays have passed, but two separate crashes just a few miles north are causing additional delays.
By 4:40 p.m., VDOT crews had cleared the scene of a crash near MM 236 that led to five miles of backups by 4 p.m.
But now, a few miles north, a separate tractor trailer crash has closed the southbound right lane and right shoulder at mile marker 240, in the Mount Crawford area. Backups from that scene stretch back around three miles.
Just around two miles north of that, another tractor trailer crash has also closed the southbound right lane and right shoulder at MM 242.
Each of the crashes occurred as thunderstorms have been moving through the area, but there's no indication as to the cause of any of the crashes at this time.
