HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — This month, United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County (UWHR) launched a community wide network to support the complex needs of residents.
Through "Empower HR," residents can access healthcare, housing, behavioral health, substance use counseling and more all in one place.
"Our community is filled with some really great resources, but they're only good if you know how to access them," said Laura Toni-Holsinger, Executive Director of UWHR. "This is really all about access."
According to Toni-Holsinger, Empower HR was launched in response to a community conversation about the ALICE project.
She said one of the biggest needs identified was a way for service providers to connect with each other in order to best serve clients.
"We want to make sure that people who need resources and need programming can get them and know how to get them effectively and efficiently," said Holsinger.
The Empower HR technology is powered by the company Unite Us and is provided at no cost to residents through the support of Rockingham Insurance.
