VA Cyber Range hosts first-ever cybersecurity conference in the Valley

This is the first annual conference, next year they plan to have it at George Mason University.

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — The Virginia Cyber Range is hosting its very first Virginia Cybersecurity Education Conference at James Madison University on August 14th and 15th.

The two-day conference is for all Virginia high school, community college, and higher education faculty administrators and partners. The conference will have workshops for teachers the first day and presentations the second day.

JMU was chosen as the location, because it just became one of the first institutions in Virginia to be designated by the NSA and DHS as a "center of academic excellence in cyber security education."

Sandra Schiavo, the lead course work coordinator for VA Cyber Range, said the goal of the conference is to help educators learn new tools as they go back for the school year.
