VDOT holds transportation project hearing

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- .The community shared comments on projects that have been scored and recommended for funding through Virginia's SMART SCALE projects to the Commonwealth Transportation Board on Thursday night.

Mike Uram, a member of Stanley Town Council, showed concerns of wanting to see sidewalks and roads improved in Stanley.

"It's saying you want to have a family that walks together instead of having someone pushed off to the side and their walking in a grass or possibly in the road because it's so close to the road. It does have to be improved," Uram said.

Uram also said he is upset because Stanley has been on the VDOT six year improvement plan for forty years and nothing has been done.

Following the public meeting, the Commonwealth Transportation Board will take all comments made on Thursday into consideration as it puts together the 2018-23 six year improvement plan.
