Interchange Group is expanding in Augusta County, bringing up a brand-new facility this week in Verona.
Interchange is a warehousing and third party logistics company that provides warehousing space throughout Virginia. This week, the company is literally bringing up the walls of the new facility.
"It's important for the company, it's important for our local economy," said Keith Robinson, the sales manager for Interchange Group. "It's economic development in the state. It's what we're all aiming for... a better community."
The "tilt event" brought together Augusta County and even some state leaders, including Augusta County Board of Supervisors Chairman Tracy Pyles and Delegate Steve Landes.
"We want to have a premiere park," said Pyles, speaking about Mill Place Commerce Park. "Who we bring in here, we want those folks to be able to supply jobs that are good-paying jobs, benefit jobs, the kind of things where a young man and woman can have a job here, can have a good family life and take a vacation."
Interchange has done similar events before, including one in Portsmouth with a building about twice the size of the new Verona spot.
Robinson says the company has about 300,000 square feett of building going up right now.
The panels should be up by August 25, and the entire facility should be finished by the beginning of December.
