Verona Community Center

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. --(WHSV)-- Six months ago the Verona Community Center was nothing more than a run down building.

Today it is a place for worshipers in the area, and the community of Verona as a whole.

The center features a nursery, internet cafe, event center, and a teen area that will be completed soon.

Leaders want it to be a place for anyone who needs it to be able to gather, whether it is for a church service, or a Mary Kay event.

They say the center brought people together, before it was finished.

"I think we discovered a part of our community in the process of building this out that maybe we didn't know was here. It just brought groups and people together and again, just kind of defined community," said Bob Weeks, the Senior Pastor at Verona United Methodist Church.

Renovations for the 8,200 square foot center cost $170,000, and leaders say they believe the community will continue to keep the center up and running.
