WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) — After a three-week investigation, a Waynesboro man has been arrested on two dozen charges related to child pornography.

The Waynesboro Police Department says they arrested David James Carver, Jr., 48, on Thursday, April 20, for 24 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

This comes after an investigation which began on March 28, when the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force notified Waynesboro police about a possible child pornography case in the area.

Working off of that lead, officers began their own independent investigation into the crime of possession of child pornography, leading them to execute a search warrant on March 30 at Carver's home in the 100 block of Country Lodge Road (see map below) in Waynesboro.

While carrying out that warrant, detectives seized several electronic devices, all of which were internet-capable, and then spent the next three weeks reviewing the images they found on those devices.

On April 20, detectives used what they found on those devices to obtain a warrant for Carver's arrest, and took him into custody at his parents' home around 8 p.m. Thursday night.

He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
