WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) — A Waynesboro woman is charged with malicious wounding after police say she slashed her boyfriend with a knife during an argument.

According to Captain Kelly Walker, with the Waynesboro Police Department, officers were called out to the Parkway Village Apartments around 11:15 p.m. Monday night for a report that a 30-year-old man had been stabbed.

Those apartments are just off of Hopeman Parkway, across from the Waynesboro DMV and the Food Lion shopping center.

Investigators say 34-year-old Gracie Catherine Mitchell and the man had been arguing over personal property when the argument turned physical and Mitchell cut the man in the side with a knife, leaving "a significant laceration."

When police arrived, Mitchell had fled the scene on foot, but while officers investigated the scene, other officers found her on Hopeman Parkway near the DMV, where she was arrested.

Mitchell is being held without bond in Middle River Regional Jail on one count of malicious wounding.
